YSSC Teachers Make Science Fun

Extracting DNA From Strawberries And Answering Physics Questions …

Yarrabilba State Secondary College recently opened its doors to the community for their Annual Science Fair. There were displays and demonstrations of ‘all things science’. Of particular interest were the science discovery rooms. There the teachers made science fun and accessible to all.

Kids and adults could extract DNA from strawberries and discover answers to physics questions like, “Why does a ball never bounce back as high as it was dropped?” (It loses energy as it falls).  Outside there was a laser and light disco and stargazers could explore the night sky thanks to the telescopes of the Scenic Rim Astronomy Association.
