Bellydancing ‘Is The Go’ @ Logan Village Hall
Belly Dancing, yes, Belly Dancing – is ‘all the go in the village’! Each week, enthusiastic class members attend Renata’s Bellydancing sessions at the Logan Village Hall. Renata welcomes all ages and fitness levels saying no one is too old, too young, or too unfit to learn about the Ancient Art of Bellydance!
Thinking I might fit into a couple of those categories – I went along to see for myself. The first thing I heard upon entering the hall was the wonderful upbeat music, the second thing to notice was the swirling colours as the ladies danced around under Renata’s gentle instruction. When the music finished, the group of excited ladies came over to greet, keen to tell why they had decided to learn such a wonderful art.
Sheridyn – was eager to tell how that – even though she had a heart condition and was fitted with a defib to prevent her from having a heart attack when doing exercise of any sort – you can work at your own pace in the classes, and when she starting last February she couldn’t mow the whole yard – now she can!
Romaine – said after she retired thirteen years ago she was looking for an activity to do, and after hearing about the classes, she has been attending ever since thoroughly enjoying how feminine it makes her feel.
Sherryl – worried she didn’t have anything to do, went onto the Logan City Live Well site, and now attends every class Renata takes at every venue exclaiming that “I love it!”.
Alma – did the activity 15 years ago and wanting her fitness level back now does two classes a week saying stretching to music has definitely helped to loosen any stiffness!
Maria – soon to turn 80 years old – a marathon runner in her younger days – attends aqua aerobics classes three times a week as well as Zumba classes three times a week – so why not bellydancing twice a week – incredible stuff!
Simone (with baby Leo) – has found the classes both graceful and beneficial especially after having a baby, and loves that it brings women of all ages with different experiences together.
Yvonne – in her 70’s, newcomer to the group, and from an local early pioneer family, said it was a wonderful way to spend an hour remarking “I just love it!”.
It was lovely to chat with the ladies, we might catch up with a few more class members down the track to hear their stories.
Renata also holds sessions at Logan Central and Loganlea. For more info, contact Renata on 0400 701 676 or email email@example.com. See you for a swirl or two!
