Active Seniors Share Their Skills!

Senior’s Workshop Series In Logan Village …

Logan Village Community Centre has been running a series of workshops and morning teas to mark Seniors Month. The Activating Seniors program is funded by Logan City Council and aims to encourage an older person to share a skill with others. So far, our local seniors have taught groups how to do macrame, embroidery, sewing, and woodwork.

At the first workshop, Robyn from Doo Drop Inn Craft Cottage taught the group how to make a simple macrame pot hanger.  Participants enjoyed not only the craft but also the social interaction and the way the group helped each other master some of the tricky knots.

The Community Centre also held an Activating Seniors Morning Tea on Thursday 27th October. Older residents were invited to the Lions Hall at Logan Village to hear local community organisations talk about the services and programs they offer for seniors. Groups such as Centrelink, Logan District Crime Prevention Unit, Logan Libraries, and the local Women’s Shed presented information. Those who attended were given bags of useful information and a delicious morning tea.
