Pastors Pete and Mel from Dunamis Church cut the ribbon for the grand opening of the new 5FOLD Op Shop in Yarrabilba – the start of an exciting new venture for the community!

Yarrabilba has a new charity and op shop. 5FOLD opened its doors to the public on Saturday 4th December with coffee, cake and a browse through the opportunity shop for guests and well-wishers.
Director, Melinda Hartley, says the charity will focus on five areas: clothes, food, shelter, support, and training. After years of serving the community of Yarrabilba in many ways, including providing Breakfast Clubs, Melinda and her team were well placed to create a charity that would meet local needs. Logan City Council and Lendlease kindly gave grants to get the charity off the ground.

5FOLD sells pre-loved clothing and shoes at low prices, for kids, women and men. They provide emergency relief for eligible residents, and food hampers at Christmas time for those in financial hardship. The charity is registered with Centrelink and can help people with volunteer hours for Job Seeker payments. They also provide a JP service.
The motto for 5FOLD is “Community is knowing you are not alone”. Melinda says her team aim to be “a listening ear and a caring presence” for those who are going through a season of difficulty. They will assess needs and give help confidentially and without judgement. They can also refer to other organisations.
Anyone is welcome to visit or contact the team during their business hours, Wednesday to Friday, 9am to 4pm and Saturday, 9am to 12pm. Donations of clean clothes and shoes can be dropped into the shop during open hours. 5FOLD charity and op shop is in Shaw Street, Yarrabilba.
