Lions News For March

‘What’s On In The Lions Den’

Hi, this is Lion Trevor- Media Liaison Officer for the Lions Club of Logan Village with all the news of our club and it’s activities “Straight from the Lions Mouth”!
The club is back into our normal meeting cycle with our Club Dinner on the first Tuesday of the month and our Business meeting on the third Tuesday of the month.
We hold our dinner meeting at our Den and it is a night of Lions companionship and friendship with just the essential Business thrown in if required, we always welcome guest speakers with a varied range of Community topics and/or Community organisations with a goodwill mission. Thom and Ann’s (ex Yarrabilba) provide the catering for us and do an excellent jobs as ever.
Our business meetings are to discuss Lions business, be kept up to date on Lions International matters, any Community requests and plan fundraising events etc. to raise money for Community Projects.
A fact some readers may not know – All monies raised by Lions at fund raising events goes to Lions Community Projects, so if we raise $1000 (after material cost’s) from selling Sausages at an event that money will go to Community Projects, all Administration costs are covered by the fees Lions pay, Lions International stands proud on the fact “Every Dollar raised goes to help somebody”

Our Events calendar is picking up with the relaxing of Covid-19 restrictions so we will be able to get back to raising more money for the Community, our present calendar is:

• Sat 27th February Producers Markets/Movie Night on the Village Green
• Sat 6th March Woollies Sausage Sizzle at Woollies, Logan Village
• Sun 7th March Producers Markets Village Green
• Sun 7th March Clean up Australia Day Event/BBQ at Red Bridge, Logan
• Sat 20th March Woollies Sausage Sizzle at Woollies, Logan Village

We hope you can come along and support our fundraising efforts wherever possible.
The BIG EVENT we have coming up is the clubs 25th Anniversary Party on Sat 8th May, this is a year late due to Covid , but we are looking forward to celebrating in style. We are presently restricted on numbers attending due to Covid but hope restrictions may ease before May.
In future news I hope to give a brief profile of our club members, so if you see Lion Trey or Sue at an event you will know a bit about them and start up a conversation us Lions like a chat and we won’t bite your head off (sic)
Other News – Lions International is working in a lot of Countries that do not have Health systems such as Australia, assisting with the Covid epidemic and providing whatever services they can.

Lastly, but not Least … if you know of any cases of any local persons or families that need assistance due to extreme circumstances and are not presently able to be helped by the mainstream community assistance organisations please contact us and if we can assist we will endeavour to do so, please contact myself in the first instance to discuss the cause before making any commitments.
I hope you enjoy the News of your local Lions Club and we are always there to help our Community as the Lions’ Motto is “We Serve”. Look out for the April Edition of “What’s On In The Lions Den”.
