Community Garden Harvests Plants For Locals

After lots of tender loving care, the Yarrabilba Community Garden was ready last weekend to harvest to offer some vegetables and plants for local residents to try. One resident excitedly chose some mint, a couple of tomatoes, and a lettuce.
Another family came to the garden to draw on some of the rocks creating some more rocks for the ‘The Kindness Rock project’.

The garden is co-ordinated by Tash, who is joined by others who help look after watering, composting, and general maintenance.
Community Garden members are encouraged to fertilise, mulch, weed and of course plant the type of plants that they would like to grow. A big donation from ‘Seed to Salad’ in Jimboomba has made the planting of several different plant types possible. “It’s all about learning,” Tash said “Finding out what works and how to look after the plants.”
The garden is open to all residents to enjoy – go to the facebook ‘Yarrabilba Community Garden’ group to ‘plant’ your interest.
