As I put fingers to the keyboard there are only 36 days to Christmas, how time flies as you get closer to the big day, lots of shopping, keeping the children guessing what Santa will bring (or not, if they are naughty) and for us Lions, selling Christmas cakes and wrapping presents for people, yes, it’s a very busy time of the year.

At Lions we have had a better month with NO CANCELLATIONS of events due to Covid concerns or politics, so we have been able to raise money for charity and worthwhile causes.

On Saturday 30th October we hosted a thank you event for all the sponsors, companies and individuals who had assisted us in getting Car1104 ready for the Variety Bush Bash 2021. Certificates of appreciation were given out by club President Wayne to all those wonderful people, who had assisted us. (Please see photos)

We welcomed our guests for the day, Lions District 201Q1 Governor Nicole Phillips, IPDG Narelle Parkins, Region/Zone Project Co-ordinator Peter Ho OAM, Logan State MP Linus Power, and our dear friend LCC Councillor Laurie Koranski (now known as Laurie Scissor Hands).

Also we had the official opening of our renovated Den, again we thank
all who assisted us, and certificates of appreciation were given to those people. The opening ceremony was performed by Councillor Laurie Koranski and our Immediate Past District Governor (IPDG) and District ALF chair Lion Narelle Parkins, they did a wonderful job of cutting the ribbon in unison. (Please see photos)

And lastly, we were able to see the “Big Ass Fans” that had been installed in the Lions Community Hall and hear the wonderful audio systems that had been installed with a grant from the LCC, the size of the fans amazed a few people and Lion Brad gladly informed them, that is why they are called “Big Ass Fans” and he showed that at full blast they will blow you over.

The club put on a BBQ, and everybody enjoyed a great Sausage or Burger, a few drinks and great conversation and back slapping on a job well done by one and all (please see photos).

Thank you, Kerri, for all the wonderful photos you took on the day. Thank God for digital cameras or we would have spools of film from here to Wop Wop and out to the Black Stump and back!

On Sunday 31st October we had a very successful day doing a sausage
sizzle for Bunnings at Bethania selling lots of sausages and raffle tickets, it was a bit windy, and thank goodness the marquee covers are bolted down, well done the Bunnings team.

On Tuesday 2nd November at our Dinner meeting we had a guest speaker from the Variety Club, who spoke on the organisation its origins and its purposes and how it runs the Variety Bush Bashes around Australia to raise funds for the children’s work it carries out, it was a very informative talk. We also farewelled our Car 1104 team and wished them a safe and enjoyable trip.

On Saturday 6th November we did a Sausage Sizzle at Woollies Logan Village, we sold lots of Sausages, raffle tickets and some Christmas cakes and had some lovely conversations with the locals.

On Tuesday 16th November at our Business meeting, we welcomed back our Car 1104 Team and heard some of the amazing tales they had to tell – we will be running some stories over the next few issues.

“IN THE ZONE”
Lion Euan has been very busy this past month and passed on this information:

• District 201Q1 Convention at Kooralbyn 5-6 November – attended and found it very interesting lots of interesting topics and some inspiring speakers. I was especially inspired by the winners of the District Youth of the Year award and the Multiple District Leo of the Year award, both inspiring young people who are motivated and a prime example of what youth can achieve, the media should give airtime to these young people, not concentrate on the bad apples and generalise.

• Oct 28th attended Zone meeting at the Woodridge-Kingston Club well attended and guest speaker PDG Ken Mulcahy spoke on membership and put forward ways to increase Lions membership, was well received.

• Today 19 Nov attended the White Ribbon Day breakfast event at the Logan Village Hotel the event was sponsored by the Defenders for Hope organisation it was well attended and very interesting speakers.

• Also today attended as Guest Speaker at the International Men’s Day event in the Village, well attended and had lots of good questions to answer.

• Sunday 21st November attending a District/ Zone cabinet meeting on the Gold Coast.

During December have some club visits to undertake and also cabinet meetings, hopefully then things will be quieter.

Please have a very Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year with best regards from Lion Euan Zone 7 Chair and District Governor Nicole and Cabinet.

Thank you, Euan let’s hope you get some me time soon.

forward to seeing all our regulars and hopefully lots of new customers
over the two weeks.

Well dear readers that it is it from myself and the Lions Club for 2021, it
has been a tough year with lots of low points, but also some highlights
and we have still been able to raise money for all the good deeds Lions
Clubs perform, next year will be better I am sure, keep positive.

So from myself our President Wayne and all members of the club, we
wish you all a very Happy Christmas and let’s hope a more enjoyable and
flexible New Year, please keep safe, drive carefully and keep getting those
jabs so in 2022 we can all have more ”fun in the sun” in Queensland.

Yours in Lions
